Martin W. Hassing
President and jeweler extraordinaire, Martin has been creating, repairing, and appraising jewelry since 1974. His achievements include winning the prestigious AGTA Spectrum award, and he has been trained at the Gemological Institute of America in Advanced Diamond Setting, Diamond Grading and Gem Identification courses. As an expert in the field, he has also taught metal-working and stone setting workshops at Maryville University, Webster University, and Southern Illinois University. Martin is an enthusiastic world traveler and journeys annually to Asia and South America to hand-select loose gemstones for his creations. With a penchant for imaginative metal fabrication and eye for gemstones, Marty is one of the very few metal casters and gem importers in St. Louis. He is a master of his craft and willing to take on nearly any project in platinum, gold, or silver.
Gayle Gourdé Camp
Designer, sales associate, and bench jeweler, Gayle has been with Summit since 2006. Gayle graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in metalsmithing and is a graduate of the G.I.A. Diamonds and Diamond Grading course. She has experience with metal fabrication, enameling, casting, stone setting, and both traditional and modern CAD jewelry designing. With a flair for the whimsical and unusual, her designs have big personality. Gayle is also a painter, sculptor, and illustrator and has shown her artwork around St. Louis. She and her husband are very busy keeping up with their two young sons and two kitties.
Vicki is our behind-the-scenes manager that keeps Summit running smooth. She is huge animal advocate and passionately supports the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Care STL, and Stray Paws Rescue. She will happily go anywhere to help an animal in need and find them forever homes. She has two rescued fur babies, Bebe and Roscoe. When she is not working or donating her time to help animals, she loves to travel all over, especially Colorado, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Nashville, and of course, Bangkok.
Yadi is the friendliest member of our staff and is eager to greet all our guests! He enjoys stealing your attention as well as your shoes.
BeBe is a rescued beagle/husky mix. She occasionally will wander into the showroom and meet guests, but she spends most of her day in her own personal armchair in Vicki’s office.
We originally were temporarily fostering Roscoe, but after just spending a couple of weeks with him, we knew he had to stay. Roscoe has a big bark, but no bite!
Jewel is our second “foster failure”! She was named “Jewel” before we even got her, so the stars were aligned. She is a very shy little girl and likes to lay at Marty’s feet while he works.
