Purple-Blue Botryoidal Chalcedony Pendant (P1901)
Love the unique flavor of this chalcedony–the surface has a subtle botryoidal growth design (a growth pattern that looks reminiscent of clusters of grapes). It is set lengthwise in a custom-carved setting accented by two (2) tube set round brilliant cut diamonds and permanently attached to a sturdy cable link chain. The chalcedony is slightly trapezoidal and measures 40 x1 3 mm; 18.47 carats in total. The two diamonds are set in an asymmetrical design, (2.5mm , 3.2mm, approximate combined weight is 0.20 carat; average clarity is SI and color H-I. The attached cable chain has a slight diamond-cut effect that makes it more sparkly. (18″ total length).

The art of metal-smithing/forming/working is an ancient one, dating back thousands of years. This project begins with the lost wax casting process; a wax model is carved from a block of wax put into a mold and eventually cast into metal. To secure the stone in place, wire is shaped and soldered to form prongs, tubes are cut and burnished hold diamonds. The metal is then filed and polished, assembled and soldered, and set with stones that we hand select to fit each piece. It can be a lengthy process but is worth the wait!
