Hot! Boiling Hot (and yet so cool!)
Hello All!
First, I’d like to thank everyone who attended our 2nd annual Gemshow for making it a success! Not only did we find homes for lots of stones, we had five happy recipients of our jewelry giveaways. The lesson I have learned is that people like free jewelry. 🙂 We expect to have more giveaways at our holiday open house in December. Watch for details…..
MEET OUR NEWEST ARRIVALS!
Here are some of our latest Vintage and Estate Items. The first is an incredible Victorian Brooch-Pendant with amethysts, turquoise and pearls. Especially neat is the ability to remove the cluster of amethysts dangling below and wear it as an awesome pendant in its own right! Second is a classic turn-of the century seed pearl and diamond starburst pin-pendant combination; it looks fantastic with or without a chain. Last is a hand-cut out pendant with hand-engraved detail that features a synthetic spinel with cool subtle green color in natural light and crazy intense color under longwave UV light.
If you are curious about why I bother exposing a stone to UV light, here is the reason. In simple terms, UV light stimulates certain electrons that then release energy (light) in their excited state. In many stones, whether or not a stone fluoresces helps to separate one mineral from another. It also can help distinguish between synthetic and natural stones (natural spinel generally responds weakly to UV light, synthetic spinel really jumps out at you!).
The Many Forms of the Diamond Band
From classic to unusual, the diamond band can take on many different looks. On the left are classic round brilliant cut diamonds, the middle features ovals and on the right is a hand-constructed eternity band made entirely of baguettes. Please contact us if you’d like more information about these beauties.
We will be closed from Sunday August 6th – Monday, August 13th for our summer vacation.
Yes, we used to take two weeks but are switching things around a bit.
